We started The Citrus Report in 2008 because we wanted to read our own writing. That sounds pretty egocentric of us, but we really liked the people we talked to, the world that we covered in our day jobs, and we wanted to put it all together in one comprehensive space. And, a lot of blogs and websites did one or two things really well that we liked, and we wanted to do 10 things that we would like. So then, a birth. We wanted to be smart, but not trying to impress you at a bar or dinner party kind of intellect. Just random tidbits from a world that is random, filtered through the eyes of people who work creative jobs as a main source of income. Our relationships with hundreds of artists is the centerpiece of The Citrus Report, and those relationships have created our network.
The Citrus Report has the focus of contemporary art, but we are also interested in music, literature, politics, pop-culture, fashion, weird moments in life, odd characters, odd behavior, normal behavior, celebrities, non-celebrities, economic stimulus plans, Kafka, Tolstoy, Marx, and reunion tours of bands that should never reunite. To get this out of the way now, Upper Playground is like our parent, but we have turned 18 and UP only hears from us when we do something that we shouldn’t.
